Novy Bereber is the Philippines’ leading young choreographer – one of the few people to have created works for the national dance company, Ballet Philippines; the country’s flagship classical company, Ballet Manila; and the premier folkloric/contemporary company of his native Visayas region, Dagyaw. He has been dancing professionally for ten years, as well as teaching, creating dance, and working as a ballet- and dance-master. Drawing on his extensive experience in classical, modern and native dance, Novy is committed to further developing modern and classical dance both in his country and internationally, particularly in his special area of interest, a fusion of modern, classical and folkloric styles he calls ‘Asian Contemporary’.
